Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Very fresh and very good! I even loved the guacamole when I never cared for the stuff before. Happy Hour drink special was great and flexible ($1.50 off anything - was only $4.25 for 25 oz of XX Amber). I had the Chimichanga Dinner (one shredded chicken and one shredded beef) which was very good, fresh. Wife had the first seafood meal listed, shrimp on rice in spicy cheese sauce. So good! Kids meals were great as well. Service was genuine. Like other Canadians over the years, we included a visit to Paradiso on every trip to the area. However on this trip, we were fortunate the U.S. Customs official at the border asked what we liked and when Paradiso was mentioned, Casa Mexico was strongly recommended. We're thankful for that and will be back!

Food was not bad, however there steak was over cooked to the point of jerky like consistency. Tried a beef tamale as well, very bland flavorings. Worst of all was their drinks, tried a premium and regular margarita, both of which were shit. If a single shot of liquor had been added I would be surprised, and for the cost it was far from worth my dollar. Furthermore my guest and I ordered them during happy hour in which they should have been discounted, well that led to an argument with the staff who apparently on a 60$ tab wanted to fight over 3$. Not coming here again based on service and alcohol. Like I said though, the food wasn't bad.

We had a delicious dinner here on a Monday night. One of our kids had the huevos rancheros and loved it. I had the chicken fajita salad, which comes with guac and was delicious. I added my leftover salsa to it. By the way, the chips and salsa were delicious. My husband had a burrito and flauta and said it was delicious. My basic margarita was tasty and inexpensive! All in all it was an awesome meal and great service. We would definitely come back.

Had some decent expectations for this place, but unfortunately I can't tell you if the food is good or not. Decided to pay the place a visit on a Saturday early evening and the line was 12 deep. Not because the place was packed though. No, this was due to no one being present up front. Like other reviewers have stated, the wait staff here is just not up to snuff in the least. After waiting ten minutes and no signs of life from the staff, I walked out. Sigh. It certainly smelled good from the wait area at least. But until this place hires some competent staff, I'd stay away.

A play by play: Quick seating and quick order taken. Chips and salsa are very nice and not tostidos like Mexican village! Salsa has great flavor and a little heat. The chips are put in a warmer before serving for extra yummy. The shrimp cocktail is huge and very well done Mexican style. The fajitas are cooked to perfection and served with homemade tortillas. Rice and beans are nice. This is the best Mexican food in the area-hands down.

OK, yes, the service is slow at times but the food is absolutely delicious! At most restaurants, I'll bounce around the menu and I did try a few items before settling on a couple of favorites at Casa Mexico. First, you get the delicious salsa with a bit of a kick to it. The chips are better than any I've had in the area. There are literally over 200 items on the menu so be prepared be overwhelmed by choices. The menu is organized fairly well so you can narrow down your choices quickly. If you order something with tortillas, the tortillas in the aluminum foil are usually overcooked and hard. But the rest of the food more than makes up for it. The beans are delicious. They don't look like canned dog food like many other mexican-attempting restaurants around here. The food comes quickly and it's hot. The service is hit-or-miss and I've had the same server give outstanding service followed by neglect on my next visit. I usually tip well so I don't know why it varies so much. And the neglectful service usually happens when the restaurant is slow. Give this place a shot. You will never want to go back to the other imitations in Grand Forks after this.

My husband and I went here to eat last week. It was excellent food. The best I've tasted in awhile. The chorizo queso appetizer is to die for. My husband has already been there twice since we ate there for to go orders. Just to be sure, I did eat at my old favorite "Paradiso" and it was bland in comparison. For authentic Mexican go to Casa Mexico, it makes Paradiso taste like Taco Bell.

This place may not have the service many people want but if you love great tex-mex this is fabulous! If you don't think the chile verde is exceptional, go back to Taco John's.

Not sure if the food is good. Went there and waited at the counter to be seated and never saw an employee. There was one other couple eating. We left after 5 minutes.

Boo :( The first time I went here I was all excited because I thought we had a decent Mexican place in town (I stress decent, not great but better than the others. I had gotten one of the combo plates and everything was fine. They use the type of Mexican cheese that I like less than the other frequently used at Mexican places (this is the more creamy less salty kind), but I was fine enough to look past that. Everyone has their own personal preference. However, I went there Sunday & the service was beyond slow (it wasn't busy) annnnd after we had been waiting for some time the waitress had to ask our orders again, so I'm pretty sure they didn't all get put in. Then after some people were nearly done, I finally got my food. 1) since when is garlic bread Mexican? 2) Why would you serve someone a burnt piece of garlic bread - picture will be uploaded. 3) kind of wrecked this place for me. Idk maybe it was just a bad day...on the plus side the drinks are super cheap here.

Being from TX and living in AZ means I've had my fair share of Mexican food. I've had the fajitas and the steak with enchilada. Both were good. The chips were good as well as the salsa. I will be back. A note to the owners: When you can feel the stress of the waitstaff who are working at their maximum ability it makes for a hurried and awkward dining experience. I've only been twice so take this with a grain of salt if it's not the norm. There is absolutely no front of the house presence whatsoever. I was confused my first time because there was no wait to be seated sign nor was there a hostess, just two servers doing their best to keep up. There was no clear manager or anyone assuring guest satisfaction on either of my visits. With at least a hostess to greet and seat people I can promise you that your sales will increase and will more than pay for the added labor in one weekend. Your food is on par, although home made tortillas would be the icing on the cake! We'll be back but it's sad to see a place with such great food suffer with a line of eager customers almost out the door with dumbfounded looks on their faces.

Best Mexican restaurant in all of Grand Forks. I've been here a total of three times and so far I've been quite pleased. Your expectation of Tex Mex in North Dakota or Upper Minnesota is sub par, but this place could easily be placed somewhere down south. The carnitas are super delicious and they also have really good margaritas which actually have tequila in them. I'll be back.

I like the food and it's better than the Mexican restaurants across the river. Plus many vegetarian options and they are happy to substitute the meat with beans. The taste of the food is pretty good. It's certainly not the best place I've had, however. My daughter enjoys the food. The service is pretty terrible. I've had more bad service than good service. One of my visits there resulted in the server getting the dish wrong 3 to 4 times before I gave up. I've had rude servers, servers who do not refill my water, servers who got the dish wrong (more than the time I mentioned), so on. I'd go there often if I had better service. They also should have a separate host for welcoming and seating people and have the customers pay at the table. It causes too much frustration for the person working the host station, I think. People waiting in line for a table AND people waiting in line to pay. It would cause a lot less confusion. I feel they have some random person working the host station and this may be a server or who knows ... but each time I've been in, there seems to be confusion. I would go more often if the service was better. My daughter is a preteen and has expressed her frustration over the service. That's got to show how the service is if my 12 year old notices it. :/

If you ever think "This burrito is pretty good, but what would make it awesome would be me sitting in a chair made out of a barrel." Casa Mexico is the place for you. I had the Burrito California (something like that) With beef. The beef is really good. I like the chips and sauce. I'm going back.

Another place that I regularly go to. I've always had great experiences. The food and service are both good. I suggest any item with their shredded chicken, it's delicious!
